The Consulting Project’s unique structure of retained experts allows the flexibility to pair the right specialist to the referring attorney and client’s specific needs. We continuously bring together a range of experts from various diverse backgrounds, including Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Forensic Social Workers, Certified Alcohol Substance Abuse Counselors, Mental Health Counselors, Case Managers and Academic/Research Specialists (see below). Many of our experts are also bilingual.

 

Director of Forensic Social Work Services

Kim M. Melendez LMSW, MSED, is our Director of Forensic Social Work Services and partners with professional organizations, universities and law schools with specialized departments in Criminal Law and Forensic Social Work in order to locate these experts. She then vets and assesses the experts to ascertain their experience, expertise and success rate. The experts are then partnered with our experienced mitigation specialist who has over 20 years of experience working with the State and Federal jurisdictions.

 

Ms. Melendez is a NYS Licensed Master of Social Work and holds a Master’s degree in Forensic Social Work and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She has 18 years of experience in the Mental Health field and 8 years in the Criminal Justice field . Currently, Ms. Melendez is also an Adjunct Professor at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice and an Inpatient Psychiatric Therapist at the New York City Children's Center.
